Pest control check log
Record your own weekly pest checks between contractor visits: where you looked, what you found and what was done.
Free, no sign-up. A4 landscape, one week per sheet.
| Date | Area checked | Signs of pests (Y/N) | What was seen (droppings, gnawing, insects, nests) | Proofing OK: doors, drains, gaps (Y/N) | Traps / units checked (Y/N) | Action taken | Initials |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
How to use it
- Write your pest control contractor’s name and number at the top, so anyone can call them.
- Check every food area at least weekly: stores, under and behind equipment, near bins, doors and drains.
- Write Y or N for signs of pests, and describe anything you see: droppings, gnaw marks, insects, nests, damaged packaging.
- Check proofing: doors close fully, no gaps around pipes, drain covers in place, fly screens intact.
- If you find signs, protect or throw out food at risk, clean and disinfect, call your contractor, and write what was done.
- Keep this log with your contractor’s visit reports.
Pests are one of the most common reasons for FSAI closure orders. See pest control for food businesses and closure orders explained.
When paper gets hard to keep up
Paper sheets get missed on busy days, filled in at the end of a shift, and lost when you need them. In Hygivo, a weekly pest check can be a scheduled task, the hygiene inspection checklist covers pests, and staff can log a sign of pests from the home screen so a manager sees it straight away.
